Is Ethereum Ready to Flip Bitcoin?

ETH’s rally, corporate treasury inflows, and bold predictions from co-founder Joe Lubin are turning heads. Is this the start of a new market cycle—or just another hype wave?

ETH Surges into Global Asset Rankings

Over the past week, Ethereum (ETH) soared more than 20%, breaking above $4,300 and pushing its market cap beyond $520B—surpassing global giants like Mastercard and Netflix . This breakout has reignited institutional interest in ETH as a serious contender in the global asset race.

Corporates Are Buying—Treasuries Going On-Chain

Public companies are increasingly allocating ETH as a dual-purpose asset: both a hedge and a yield-generating tool through staking. Corporate wallets now collectively hold nearly 966,000 ETH, valued at ~$3.5B—marking a sharp increase from last year.

Hong Kong's Huakan Medical Joins the ETH Treasury Movement

Hong Kong-listed Huakan Medical is one of the first traditional firms in the region to publicly embrace ETH. Through a strategic partnership with HashKey Group , it launched an “Enhanced Global Ethereum Vault” strategy. Huakan acquired 5,190 ETH (avg. $3,661) and has already seen a paper gain of over $3M. The move signals growing institutional appetite—and new use cases beyond crypto-native firms.

Lubin’s Bold Forecast: Flippening Within a Year?

Joe Lubin, Ethereum ’s co-founder and CEO of ConsenSys, stated that continued treasury accumulation could push ETH to surpass BTC in market cap within the next 12 months. He dubbed it Ethereum’s “broadband moment”—a convergence of mature tech, legal clarity, and institutional capital. Fundstrat’s Tom Lee echoed this optimism, citing regulatory greenlights for stablecoins, SEC support for on-chain finance, and Wall Street firms building directly on Ethereum as potential catalysts that could push ETH to $30,000+.

Not Everyone's Convinced—Skeptics Remain

Despite the momentum, many experts still question whether the so-called “flippening” is realistic. With supply structure differences and diverging use cases (ETH as infrastructure vs. BTC as digital gold), ETH still trails BTC in market cap by several multiples. The race is on—but the path isn’t smooth.

As Ethereum enters a pivotal phase—from tech innovation to corporate adoption—do you think it has what it takes to surpass Bitcoin in the next year? Or is this just another temporary cycle?
