We Are 852Web3: Dedicated Supporters of Hong Kong’s Web3 Development
Since 2022, we have witnessed the Hong Kong government’s proactive efforts in promoting Web3 and virtual asset development. Through supportive policies and the establishment of regulatory frameworks, the government has created a favorable environment for the industry to thrive. Notable milestones include the Policy Statement on Virtual Asset Development in 2022 and the allocation of HKD 50 million in 2023 to support Cyberport’s Web3 ecosystem development. These initiatives highlight the government’s commitment to advancing blockchain technology and virtual assets.
Amid this wave of innovation, 852Web3 has risen as a representative force for Hong Kong’s Web3 community. Initially, we focused on hosting offline events, quickly building a large network of local Web3 enthusiasts. By using the unique name “852” and delivering content in Cantonese, we strengthened the community’s local identity and helped more people discover the appeal of Web3.
However, we never stopped there. In mid-2023, 852 successfully transformed into a Web3 marketing company, becoming one of the success stories of community commercialization. In the early stages of our transformation, we faced challenges, such as reduced participation due to our fee-based model. This pushed us to continuously explore sustainable business models, eventually finding the right balance between community value and commercial growth.
Our commercialization strategy is distinctive. For example, we developed our own NFT ticketing system, which not only enhanced the Web3 application elements of our events but also generated new revenue streams while providing participants with unique digital assets and collectibles. This is just one of many innovations—we also launched initiatives like the 852 Creator Program and on-chain payment systems, sparking widespread discussion within the market. Additionally, we expanded into diverse services, including project incubation, brand promotion, event planning, and assisting projects in entering the Hong Kong and Asian markets. To date, we’ve successfully hosted over 100 offline events, ranging from community meetups to large-scale exhibitions, with a cumulative attendance of over 100,000 people.
Looking ahead, our goal remains to create impact. Through interconnected services, a business scope that balances depth and breadth, and precise resource allocation, we aim to become a driving force behind the development of Hong Kong’s Web3 industry. Currently, we are entering the media sector with the launch of our own media brand, 852Web3 Media. Our mission is to provide valuable, in-depth Web3 industry insights to audiences in Hong Kong and globally, lowering entry barriers and attracting more talent and organizations to participate in Hong Kong’s Web3 ecosystem.
Our progress would not have been possible without the support of the Hong Kong government, the business community, and the rapid growth of the Web3 industry. However, we understand that to succeed in commercialization, we must remain true to our core values and consistently deliver real value to the community and the market. Only by doing so can we continue to thrive in a highly competitive environment.
Our journey reflects the trajectory and challenges of Hong Kong’s Web3 industry. While foreign enterprises still dominate the market, the vibrant local community, comprising artists, investors, and entrepreneurs, has created a multilayered ecosystem. Additionally, the hosting of major international events like Consensus Hong Kong 2025 and the Hong Kong Web3 Carnival further underscores Hong Kong’s appeal as a global hub for Web3 activities.
We believe that 852Web3’s successful transformation offers valuable lessons for other community-driven enterprises and has made a meaningful contribution to the development of Hong Kong’s Web3 industry. Our vision is to help Hong Kong shine on the global stage once again, and this belief will continue to drive 852Web3 forward.
